Excellence in Wound Care from UAE: Salvacion Cruz (Regional Director Middle East): Silver
Contribution to Education in Wound Care: Karen Ousey (ISTAP Regional Director Europe) and Barbara Conway (University of Huddersfield) – Silver
Innovation in surgical site infection: Karen Ousey (ISTAP Regional Director Europe) and Barbara Conway (University of Huddersfield) – Bronze
ISTAP European Director and Professor of Skin Integrity Karen Ousey with Prof Barbara Conway (Professor of pharmaceutics at the University of Huddersfield) were awarded Silver in the Contribution to Education in Wound Care category reflecting the success of the Wounds Week online international conference hosted twice a year. Karen and Prof Barbara Conway also received the Bronze for the category of Innovation in Surgical Site Infection for the work the University of Huddersfield has undertaken in Antimicrobial Stewardship and Antimicrobial resistance.
Innovation in skin integrity: Kimberly LeBlanc (ISTAP Treasurer) – Gold
Prevention and early intervention is key to stopping minor problems with skin integrity becoming hard-to-heal wounds, particularly in the elderly. This award is open to all those whose research or practice has helped reduce the incidence or enhanced our knowledge problems with skin integrity, such as skin tears.
Wound Hygiene Implementation: Jayesh Shah (Regional Director North America)
ISTAP Board Member and President of South Texas Wound Associates, Jayesh Shah MD, MHA together with Catherine Milne APRN, CWOCN-AP are the proud winners of the JWC Awards Wound Hygiene Implementation category.
Dr. Shah and Ms. Milne along with the staff at WoundCon, the first-ever online wound symposium developed an interactive session to teach the wound hygiene concepts. With over 9000 registrants, the course provided a list of common household items they could use to simultaneously perform the skills demonstrated during the didactic session.
Most Progressive Society Award: Brazilian Association of Enterostomal Therapy (SOBEST) - Silver
